HOTmilk Lingerie Review and Giveaway

One thing no one warned me about when I got pregnant was that my breasts would grow as big as melons and that I would put as much effort into finding a bra that fits, as the athletes do into training for the Olympics! Nursing bras are hard to find in my area and to even begin to hope for a bra that is sexy and supportive is impossible around here! (Yeah, mid-Missouri, sometimes you suck!) I finally found a couple of bra's at Motherhood Maternity but they never fit quite right.  The only ones they carry for my size are underwire which caused me considerable doubt because I had read tons of things about NOT using a underwire bra when breastfeeding.  I finally gave in and bought a couple different styles.  A couple of months later I was back buying another set of bras because I had lost enough weight the old ones didn't fit right.  Both of the bra's I purchased were ugly! I hated their fit and always went around adjusting myself like a teenage boy because the dreaded "third boob" would pop up every time I shifted.  I kept searching and searching for a better solution until I found HOTmilk. 

HOTmilk is actually based out of New Zealand but they sell in the United States too!  They specialize in providing SEXY and supportive nursing and maternity lingerie.  I received their "Awakened by Her Desire" bra and panty set for review.  When I opened the package I thought they had sent the wrong thing because at first glance I couldn't even tell it was a nursing bra! I wondered how supportive it would be since it wasn't an underwire and I was pleasantly surprised to find it was very comfortable and supportive.  I did find that it seemed to run just a tiny bit small so I wish I would have opted to order one size bigger in the band and cup.  One very unusual (but awesome) thing about the HOTmilk nursing bra is that it has 6 rows of snaps on the bra band to allow for lots of flexibility in the band sizing as you lose your pregnancy weight.  I'll save you the details of exactly what my husband thought, but I'll just say that the mere sight of it hanging up in the bathroom had him calling me at school asking when I was coming home to model!

Second Base Demi Cami Review and Giveaway

When I was pregnant my already voluptious breasts began growing to what felt like watermelon size.  Most of my maternity tops had buttons at least halfway down to allow for expanding breast and belly.  On one hand that was great because I definately needed the room for expansion but on the other it meant that I had mega-cleavage in every shirt I owned, even my conservative polo shirts.  During the winter months I just wore a thin tank top under my shirt and that allowed me to keep the cleavage to a minimum.  When Spring hit so did the overwhelming hot flashes and my intolerance for being even a little bit too warm.  I was at a loss of what to do because I couldn't bear the heat of wearing two shirts but I couldn't be showing the girls off either.  I finally settled on wearing a sports bra over my regular bra to provide a bit of coverage.  I REALLY wish I would have known then about the Second Base Demi Cami! 

The Second Base Demi Cami looks similar to a sports bra but comes in a variety of colors and strap styles.  It also comes in a variety of fabrics so you can match it to the type of clothing you are wearing.  The concept is a very modern spin on what my Grandma would have called a dickey.  It gives the coverage of a tank top without all the extra fabric.  It is great for obtaining a layered look, covering bra straps, and reducing cleavage.  I received the Second Base Meredith Demi Cami and I LOVED it.  I wear it under shirts with narrow straps or low-cut necklines.  It is thin and breathable but still provides excellent coverage.  Since it fits basically the same shape as my bra I don't have extra fabric wadding up around my middle.

milk Nursing Night Gown Review and Giveaway!

Night nursing was something I gave a lot of thought to before Avin was born.  I knew that in the hospital and at home I would want some comfortable pajamas and gowns to wear to sleep in but that I would have to be able to easily access my breasts for feedings.  I looked high and low for pajamas and gowns that would easily accommodate breastfeeding and it seemed like I could only find two kinds--- skimpy lingerie like nightgowns that would not cover or support me or pajamas that I am pretty sure came out of my grandma's closet.  When I found milk nursing wear and their organic cotton night gowns I went wild! 

I contacted them about a review and received the Crossover Maternity and Nursing Nightgown in black.  It was the perfect combination for me.  It is cute and comfy without being too revealing or granny like.  The gown comes down to my knees so I can wear it without fear of exposing my bottom half when I sit down.  The top is a wrap design that allows you to simply pull the material to the side for quick and easy nursing.  I like the empire waist line because it provides some support for my breasts.  The top also fits snugly enough I can wear nursing pads without them falling out.  The cleavage I show in it turns my husband but is mild enough that with a robe I don't feel too exposed when we stay with family.  The hem and sleeves have some ruffle to them so I don't just feel like a milk cow, I feel pretty and feminine.  The cut is flattering for my still flabby belly so it helps me to feel attractive as well.

I love this nightgown because it not only makes me look and feel attractive but also gives me peace of mind because it is made from organic cotton.  When my son is snuggled close to me I like knowing that he's not cuddling a bunch of nasty chemicals.

Finally! The Guidecraft Toy Box Giveaway & Review {CLOSED}

You already know how I am in love with all the wooden block we got from Guidecraft...now let me tell you about how much I love their Little Farm House Toy Box!  With all of the wooden blocks and other toys Avin has there was never any doubt that we would need a toy box, the question was just where to find a high quality, cute, functional toy box.  When I saw the Little Farm House Toy Box I fell in love!  I want to re-do Avin's bedroom from Precious Moments to a farm/John Deere theme and Guidecraft's Little Farm House line of furniture is perfect for that!  The line includes a table and chairs set, a rocking chair, a table lamp, a clothes tree, storage step-up, and of course the toy box. 

First things first... When the UPS man delivered this toy box he took pity on my and actually carried it in the house! The boxes were HUGE and heavy.  Each piece was well wrapped and there was no damage to any pieces of the toybox.  When my husband came home I asked him if he would put it together during Avin's nap time.  I headed off to school and fully expected that I would return home to an assembled toy box.  Turns out that I was way off base with that line of thinking!  Derek quit assembling the toy box halfway through! He said Avin woke up but I'm pretty sure he just didn't want to assemble it.  (Did I mention he'd rather be poked in the eye with a hot stick than assemble furniture?)  I am no carpenter but after looking at the directions I decided I could finish the toy box myself.  I jumped right in and finished everything but attaching the lid in just a few minutes.  You MUST have two people to attach the lid- one to hold the lid vertically in place and the other to screw in the 9 screws.  Derek said that the small screws included for assembly were very poor quality and that they rounded out before they were completely flush with the wood.  I bought a $1.97 bag of screws at Wal-Mart and 4 weeks later I finally managed to force Derek into holding the lid still while I put in the last of the screws.  All total the assembly time for us was 4 weeks, but if I had just done it all myself  from the beginning the assembly time would have been about 25 minutes.  Once it was assembled it was very strong and sturdy. 

The interior has 2 removable dividers so you can organize the toys.  The bottom of the toy box has casters so it makes it very easy to move from place to place.  I LOVE that the lid has special hinges that prevent it from falling closed!  You must push on the lid to close it and then it moves downward slowly.  The front of the toy box has a long shallow cut out that protects little fingers from being smashed when the lid closes.  I honestly don't think you could do damage to little fingers with the lid of this toy box if you tried! The exterior of the toy box is amazing! The toy box has a farm scene painted on it (it looks like it is done by hand).  The lid has farm animals carved and painted on it.  The only thing I didn't like about the appearance of this toy box was that the red barn was tiny compared to the animals on the lid.  Otherwise this toy box is just too cute! 

Within minutes of final assembly Derek had all of Avin's wooden blocks put away in the toybox.  It took Avin about 20 minutes to figure out how to open and close the lid.  After that he spent his evening opening and closing the lid.  It was so adorable to watch him open the lid and peer in at his toys.  He would reach in and rummage around until he found what he wanted then he would take it out and close the lid.  I think I might finally be able to store toys out of site but still within his reach! That could lead to the discovery of a living room floor again!

Tiny Tush Trim Hemp Diaper Giveaway & Review

In keeping with my Earth Week theme I'm ending this finally Friday with a cloth diaper giveaway! 

A few weeks ago I received the Tiny Tush Trim Hemp diaper to review.  We have been battling night leaking for months since Avin is such a heavy wetter.  Most of our nighttime solutions make Avin look like is trying out to be a baby sumo wrestler but that wasn't the case with the Tiny Tush Trim.  The TTT as I'll call it was really trim.  Because it is a fitted diaper made from 80% hemp and 20% organic cotton the entire diaper is super absorbent.  It is made with hidden snaps so all that is against your babies skin is the soft hemp/cotton. 

We really liked that it had an absorbent contoured snap-in liner.  We layered two more thin hemp/cotton doublers underneath the liner for a soft, super absorbent diaper.  If you have a tiny newborn baby you could actually just use the contoured snap-in liner as the diaper.  I liked that I didn't have to unsnap the liner to wash it.  I tossed it in the diaper still snapped in and it came out the same way.  Since it only attaches at one end it allows the liner to agitate separately from the main diaper.  The drying time on this diaper was the same as our microfiber liners.  (Some of our fitteds take two 70 minute drys) 

The diaper has all snaps and no Velcro or "hook and loop closure".  It has snaps vertically to adjust the size of the rise and horizontally to adjust the waist size.  This diaper fits newborn to 35+ pounds.  For a one-size diaper you can't beat the trimness of this diaper.  Even with a diaper cover on there is very little bulk.  This quickly became our go-to diaper for overnights especially once we tried it with a wool cover!  Because of that I never did manage to get a picture of Avin wearing it, because bedtime is no time for a photo shoot in our house! I'll include the stock photo for the diapers -that's really what they look like :)

Bottombumpers Diaper Pail Liner Giveaway & Review {CLOSED}

Thanks to Strawberry Kids I received a Bottombumpers Diaper Pail Liner to review.  Strawberry Kids had so many great items to choose from, including organic items, cloth diapering supplies, and breastfeeding accessories, that it took me forever to settle on the Diaper Pail Liner.  Once I did I was so glad that I chose the Bottombumper Diaper Pail Liner!  A diaper pail liner had been on my wish list for a long time but it didn't seem like a necessity so I had been putting off purchasing one.  I use a kitchen trashcan as a diaper pail so at night when I took the diapers down to wash I would wipe up any obvious spots in the pail then spray it down with Lysol and once or twice a week I would wash it inside and out with a disinfecting cleaner.  I'm a germ-a-phobe so it seriously grossed me out to be sticking my hands down in a dirty diaper pail.  The pail liner is made of durable 2mil PUL waterproof knit which is basically the same thing that outer part of many cloth diapers are made of.  It prevents urine or feces from leaking out of the bag and getting your pail dirty.  The liner is a generous 50" circumference to fit stainless steel step cans and 13 gallon trash cans (which is what I have), it is 30" tall to go in and over the edges of the pail, and has white fold over elastic to grab the sides of your pail and keep it in place.   At night when I take my diapers down I simply pull out my pail liner and toss it in the wash with my diapers.  No more scrubbing out dirty diaper cooties from my pail!  It works great for me because it is easier to carry down my stairs than the big trash can and when we travel it works as a dirty laundry bag for the entire family!  The Bottombumpers liner comes in White, Butter, Light Blue, Sage, Baby Pink, and Red.  The sage is what I chose and it is a light shade of green that goes great in Avin's nursery.  I no longer think of my diaper pail liner as a luxury item- it is definitly a necessity and I'm thinking about getting another to use while the diapers are in the wash!

We discovered pretty quickly that as good natured as Emma is she does get annoyed by the baby. He LOVES her and spends a good part of his day chasing her down to play. When she sees Avin coming she usually gets up and moves out of the way because she has learned that he is no going to love on her. We have been working very hard at teaching him the different between "pet" and "pull". Emma has been pretty patient so far but it's been a big adjustment for her since she is no longer the baby.

Some tips for parents to teach their children regarding safe pet play are:
Teach your children to pet softy, stay away from food dishes, toys and bones, and not to startle your dog or cat when it is sleeping.
Keep babies and toddlers at a level higher than your dog. Dogs perceive height as representative of their hierarchy. Keep your children off the floor when the dog is in the room. (We don't follow this since Avin is an active crawler but we don't leave them alone in the room)
Don’t give your dog toys that resemble your children’s toys or clothing. Stay away from fabric stuffed dog toys that resemble your child’s stuffed animals.
Involve your child in your dog’s care. Even just the presence of your child in the same room while your dog is receiving his favorite things or activities can help build a positive association to children.

Yoreganics Review and Giveaway {CLOSED}

Being Eco-Friendly is very important to me as is getting rid of toxic, harmful chemicals in my cleaning products. After realizing what some of the ingredients in traditional laundry detergent are doing to our envirnment I started searching for an organic alternative for our clothing. I was lucky enough to find Yoreganics and Kim sent me a sample of her products. I received her Yore Laundry Sampler Trio (which contains soap nuts, Stain Remover, and Brighten and Whitens) and a tube of Lip Balm.
When I received the package my first thought was "Aww, how cute and tiny!" Everything came in this little drawstring sack and I thought it was such a cute packaging idea. It turns out that it wasn't just a packaging idea, it was a vital part of the sampler. Before I go on I must confess something. I had no idea what soap nuts were when Kim offered to send me the sampler. I THOUGHT I knew--in my mind I pictured an acorn (hey it's a type of nut!) shaped solid soap. Don't ask me where these crazy notions come from! When I opened the package I was so surprised to find something that looked like a bunch of dried cranberries. Luckily Kim includes a great little piece of paper explaining what the cranberry looking things are. Soap nuts fall from the Soapberry tree (sapindus mukorossi) found in Northern India and Nepal. The outer shells of these dried fruit berries contain saponin, which creates a natural soap when agitated in water. To use them you put a few in the drawstring bag and toss it in the washer. When you put the clothes in the dryer you take the bag out and set it aside for the next load. After a few washes you toss out the used berries and replace them with fresh. Some awesome things about Soap Nuts are that they are USDA Certified Organic: no nasty chemicals,Eco-friendly: sustainable & biodegradable, Economical: less than other detergents, Antimicrobial: great for septic & grey water systems, and A natural softner: no need for fabric softener/dryer sheets. I tried them for several loads of laundry and they did everything they promised! My clothes came out scent free, soft, and clean. I did worry that I would forget the bag and toss it in the dryer but that didn't happen.

Since the Brightens & Whitens claimed to be cloth diaper safe I decided to put it to the ultimate test. I won't go into details but I will say that prune juice stains cloth diapers. The stains drive me crazy but I didn't know what was safe to use on the diapers to get the stains out. I used some in my cloth diaper laundry and my microfiber came out bright and white like it had spent hours in the sun. I didn't notice any problems with my diapers like repelling after using it so I think it is safe to say it works great!

I haven't used the Stain Remover much but for the minor stains I've had crop up it has worked just fine. I really like the lip balm. It is a nice texture, not too creamy or sticky and not waxy. I love that it is organic. Since you basically eat lip balm each time your tongue touches your lips I really like knowing that it is organic and chemical free!

Kim at Yoreganics was great to work with. Her shipping time was literally next day for me. She is a real mom who has seen the effects of toxicity first hand and sought to create a better, safer alternative. Guidecraft Rainbow Block Giveaway & Review {CLOSED}

I'll save you all from hearing once again about how I LOVE wooden toys and blocks and I'll just jump right into my thoughts on Guidecraft's Rainbow Blocks. (If you haven't read about my deep love of wooden toys please check out my previous reviews and giveaway!) Of all the toy reviews I have posted lately these are my personal favorite. They are cheerful, colorful blocks that work great with his unit block set. I like them because they come in a variety of colors so I can use them as an educational moment every time we play by discussing colors and shapes with Avin. Avin likes all of his wooden toys but when he is playing on his own he most often chooses the rainbow blocks. I think that is because they are colorful and light weight. The colored plexi material inside the block makes them very lightweight so they are super easy for Avin to pick up and hold on to. He seems to be drawn to the bright colors as well. It is so cute to see him dig through a pile of blocks to find the rainbow block! I wanted to post a picture of him playing with them but he's discovered his inner model and now when he sees the camera he drops what he's doing to come smile and pose.

Guidecraft has several different sets of blocks made like the rainbow blocks. Some of the options available include: Mirror Blocks, which have shiny mylar inside that mimics a mirror, Crystal Bead Blocks, which have small plastic colored beads inside, Sand Blocks, which are filled with colored sand, and Shimmering Water Blocks, which contain colored water and metalic flakes. These are all rated for kids ages 3+ (although Avin is only 10 months and loves his rainbow blocks!). These are high quality, well made blocks. Guidecraft assembles them with little ones in mind so they are all sanded buttery soft and all of the edges are rounded. I can see Avin using his rainbow blocks as stained glass windows in his wooden block castles one day.

Guidecraft Wooden Unit Block Giveaway & Review {CLOSED}

Congratulations comment #6~Have I mentioned I love wooden toys? I hope you guys don't get sick of hearing about my obsession because I LOVE wooden toys and plan to share reviews and giveaways about them as often as I can. Guidecraft provided me with a 34 Piece Unit Block Set to review (in addition to the Block Mates from my last giveaway). I first saw these blocks when I worked as a Daycare Director. We had them at the daycare and they were a huge hit with the kids. They never seemed to age or change any despite years and years of hard use. I loved watching the kids play with them because it was amazing to see what they came up with. I have seen the blocks turn into entire cities, roads, battle grounds, and more. I will warn you that at about the age of three they do become projectiles for awhile. They are the perfect size for a kid to send flying across the room in the middle of a fit.

Aside from being super durable and building imagination I love these blocks because they are made from rubber wood, a replenishable wood source. My husband and son couldn't care less about what they are made of they just know they like building things with them and knocking them down. Avin is still to young to build anything so his dad builds 'em and Avin knocks 'em down. Avin finds it hilarious to come through and knock down a tall tower of blocks. (Sorry the picture is a bit blurry, my camera isn't very good at taking action shots) It is great to watch my husband and son play together, although sometimes Derek is still building long after Avin has crawled off to a new adventure. Avin's 16 year old babysitter was here yesterday and she was playing with the blocks in the floor with Avin. After a few minutes she exclaimed "These blocks are so cool!" A few minutes later I turned around to see an elaborate building constructed from blocks. I really mean it when I say these blocks are fun for all ages.

The blocks themselves are very heavy because they are solid wood. I would use caution when letting very little ones play with them because they could cause bumps and bruises if they toppled over on them. With a 34 piece set you can build some fun structures but I recommend purchasing a larger set if you have multiple kids or a budding architect (or a husband like mine...) They go great with the other wooden block sets that Guidecraft offers like the rainbow blocks, sand blocks, mirror blocks, shimmering water blocks, and crystal bead blocks. Guidecraft Block Mates Safari Animals Giveaway & Review {CLOSED

The toy that is getting the most play in my house right now is the Block Mates Safari Animals from Guidecraft. The Block Mates are plastic pieces that fit over a traditional size wooden block to create a very cool animal. You can let your imagination run wild and mix and match to make your own combination of animals. The set comes with the pieces to make a rhino, lion, alligator, elephant, and gorilla. My husband was very impressed that the Gorilla was designed so that its upper body is raised higher than its lower body---the way you would see them walking in the zoo.
The plastic pieces have a rubber piece on the inside that helps ensure a snug fit when you snap it onto the wooden block. When fully assembled each animal stands around 4 inches tall. My husband and son love playing with these animals. Instead of using one tradtional size wooden block my husband used two half size blocks for some of our animals. Since he used the half size blocks the two top pieces attached to one block and the two bottom pieces to another. Then he would mix and match the animals which just cracked Avin up. Honestly I'm not sure who had more fun playing with the block mates, my husband or Avin. They are well made and fun for all ages! We plan to add the Farm Animal and Dinosaur Block Mates to our collection soon.

Guidecraft Wooden Blocks and Block Mates Giveaways & Reviews

The boys in my house (that includes my husband and son) have been having a blast playing the last couple of weeks! Little Ducks Organics Snack Giveaway and Review {CLOSED}

As you know I am always seeking out organic foods and snacks for Avin. He's almost 10 months old and it seems like he is eating more and more solid foods every day. We've come a long way since our first homemade purees and baby cereal puffs. He loves to feed himself finger foods now and will bang his tray for more Cheerios or snacks. He isn't very patient when it comes to meal time so to buy enough time to prep his actual food we always give him a little snack that he can feed to himself. He loves all types of cereal puffs and Cheerios but I hated constantly feeding him cereal. I was very intrigued when I was offered the opportunity to try out Little Duck Organics Baby Snacks.

I received 4 packages of snack in all three of their yummy flavors. The first one we tried was Apple & Banana. (I say we because I always try foods before feeding them to Avin.) The first thing I did when I picked up the package was check the ingredients list. It was short and simple: 100% organic apples, 100% organic bananas. When I opened the package I was mildly surprised to find tiny squares of dried (almost chalky looking) apples and bananas. I had been expecting it to either be slightly sticky and shriveled looking (think prune or dried apricots) or for it to be super hard and flat. I popped a tiny little cube in my mouth and it instantly re-hydrated and the banana flavor exploded in my mouth. Satisfied that the cubes were easily gummed and began dissolving almost instantly I poured some on Avin's tray. He was able to easily grasp the tiny little cubes and began popping them into his mouth as fast as he could go! He loved it! I mixed the bag of organic fruit snacks with some cheerios to make a sort of baby trail mix. Avin loves the snacks so much he will pick through the mix and eat the fruit first.

I opened the Strawberry Mango snacks next. Once again the ingredient list was short and simple: 100% organic Strawberries, 100% organic Mango. The strawberries had a few irregular pieces that were a little bigger than the tiny cubes in the apple and banana package. I would take a second to sort through and pick out any larger pieces if you are giving them to a beginning eater. I confess that I am in love with the Strawberry Mango snacks. Seriously, my husband made me quit eating them because they are for the baby!

I love that the snacks are made with 100% organic fruit and no dyes, fillers, or preservatives. They come in convenient resealable packaging and are great for tossing in the diaper bag. These are Avin tested and Mommy approved!

Organic Echo Wooden "Tool Box" Toy Review & Giveaway {CLOSED}

Congratulations to comment number 250! Organic Echo provided Avin with a Wooden "Tool Box" Toy set to review. You may not know this but wooden toys are my secret passion for Avin. We haved several different kinds now that I think are wonderful. Wooden toys promote a level of creativity that electronic, plastic, and light up toys do not. After watching Avin interact with a wide variety of toys I've even began to think that "learning" toys that light up, talk, or play music may be a contributing factor to kids having ADD. That sounds a little crazy I know, but the short bursts of noise and light keep kids hopping and they never learn to settle in and just play. It is very important to me that Avin develop a strong and active imagination. I believe that wooden toys can help do just that.

The cost of wooden toys has been hard for me to accept. Generally they are much more costly than plastic toys but after having purchased several different items now I've came to realize that the value behind the toy is well worth it. Plastic toys often get broken or destroyed before one child is finished with them, where wooden toys are tough enough to make it through several children (and probably still have life left). The price you pay to replace plastic toys or constantly replace batteries in electronic toys will add up to what you would have invested in wooden toys in the beginning.

When our "tool box" set came in the mail my husband was at work. I eagerly unpacked it and placed all the tools in the little tool box and waited for him to get home. He was in the process of assembling a wooden toy box (check back next week for a review!) and I thought it would be so cute if I met him at the door holding Avin and his "tool box". I let my husband come in and get changed out of his dress clothes and then I met him in the doorway holding Avin and the tool box and said "Have tool box, will travel!". My husband reached out for the tool box and tried to set it in the spare bedroom so it would be out of Avin's reach---he thought at first glance it was real tools and he was afraid Avin would get hurt! I cracked up!!! Once my husband actually took a second glance he realized what it was and immediately headed into the living room to play with Avin. The tool box set includes a hand drill, flat blade screwdriver, a hammer, a ruler, a square, a saw, and of course the tool box. This set is extra heavy duty. All of the pieces are made from real wood and have been hand assembled. The pieces have been put together securely and the seams are so flush and tight that it is hard to tell it is not all one piece. The hand drill does have a little knob mounted on the wheel that seems to be fastened on with wood glue. I was worried about Avin accidently breaking it off and it posing a choking hazard so I tried to break it myself. I tugged and yanked and banged it on the table and that knob didn't budge. I figure if I couldn't break it trying then Avin was probably safe. The hand drill is definately his favorite because of the wheel he can turn. The saw is too big and heavy for him to hold and play with right now but he'll grow into that soon. This tool box set was a huge hit with all the men in my life- my son, my husband, and my dad. When I told him that we were going to get it for review he asked if he play too! We went to visit my parents and sure enough Avin and Grandpa spent some serious guy time build pretend things in the living room floor with Avin's toys. After this play session we did decide to put the tool box up for a couple of months because Avin is learning to walk and he lost his balance and hit the tool box and bruised his cheek. Once he isn't falling so much we'll be getting this back out and he'll play with it for years to come (well, if Grandpa and Dad don't wear it out first!)

I'm sure by now all of you know that Avin teething is going to send me to the looney bin! The poor kid popped two bottom teeth out at 6 months old after trying for almost two months. He's 9 months now and still only has 2 teeth but he's been in teething misery ever since. He chews on everything all the time! Recently out of pain and frustration he'd even began trying to chew on me. (Talk about a breastfeeding shocker- OUCH!) I found him an amber teething necklace for him to wear to relieve the pain (see my blog for a review) but that didn't take away his need to chew to try to break those tiny teeth through. I've literally retrieved Avin's teethers and toys from the floor hundreds of times because he drops them or throws them down. I don't mind playing fetch for him at home but when we are out and about I can't always get to a sink to wash his toys off and this germ-a-phobe momma isn't about to give him something that has touched a dirty floor! The braclet is a simple bangle and the necklace I chose was a black latex-free stretchable cord with the rectangular slide on it. The slide feels a little chunky on but it is the perfect size for Avin to hang on to and chomp on. I really liked that I could wear the necklace inside my shirt and no one noticed it until he felt the need to chew then I could pop it out. The cord is adjustable to your desired size so I was able to wear it a little long and have plenty of room for Avin to stretch it out and chew on it. He liked it so much that I had to take it off and let both of my parents wear it so he could chew on it while he was being held! It was great to have something readily available for him to chew on at any time and not to have to worry about it getting dirty or dropped in the floor. The bracelet did hit the floor a couple of times but it was a great distraction toy for when he wanted to hold something he shouldn't. I was able to swap him the bracelet for the "no-no" object and he was happy to have something in his hands to chew on.

As far as fashion goes you probably aren't going to win any awards for fashion with this jewelry, but to be honest it flows well with my hasn't been washed in two days hair and my "this shirt only has a little spit up" mommy outfits. I didn't post any pictures of me wearing the jewerly because when I saw how I personally looked I was too embarassed! (Definately time for a mommy make-over!) The style of the jewerly reminds me a lot of some things I wore as a teenager. Like I said earlier, the lack of designer fashion isn't an issue for me because I just wore the necklace inside my shirt until he wanted to chew. The people who saw us out while I was wearing it all thought it was brilliant and not one person seemed to be put off by the fact that I wasn't wearing 24K gold.

PartyLite used to just be about cute and yummy smelling candles but now they offer food items by Two Sisters Gourmet and Spa Products. This is a company after my heart- candles, food, and spa products it's like my favorite Saturday afternoon in a store! Neptunebaby provided me with the opportunity to review some "Just Desserts". The Just Desserts line of candles are two layers of scents in a medium size glass holder. The scent I reviewed was Mulberry Vanilla Delight. I wasn't sure how I would feel about this combo because I'm not usually a mulberry fan but when it got here and I got my first whiff my nose fell in love!

The scent was so yummy. Vanilla is my go-to fragrance for winter but in the summer and spring I prefer lighter fruity scents. The combo of the candle gives me the perfect mix of vanilla and berry. When I burned the candle the scent was not overpowering but it did leave behind a light scent. When I read the product description of a "single serving jar" I expected something slightly bigger than a votive candle. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the candle is about the size of a coffee cup. The packaging Neptunebaby uses for shipping is wonderful, I received my candles in their glass jars with zero breakage. (Trust me, with my mail carrier that is really saying something!) I've burned these candles for several hours now and you can hardly tell. I believe the description is accurate when it says a 20-30 hour burn time.

Rockin Green Shake It Up Pail Freshener Review & Giveaway! {CLOSED}

You all know I am a die hard Rockin Green Cloth Diaper soap fan. Anyone who's been near me for more than 5 minutes and mentions cloth diapers or laundry knows that! As long as I've been a fan of RnG Cloth Diaper Soap I've wanted to try their Shake It Up Pail Freshener. My diaper pail is actually just a kitchen trash can without a liner or lid. I can't tell you how many times I've walked through the door of my son's bedroom and almost gagged from the smell of a poopy diaper or the harsh ammonia scent of a overnight diaper. When he started eating solids I started scooping the poop out of his diapers with a disposable wipe and dropping it in my diaper genie and that helped cut down on the smell---until you opened the diaper genie and then GAG! the smell hit you full force in the face.


I bought recently some Fresh Linen Shake Up from a friend and I received some Mango Sorbet from Kim for review. The Fresh Linen is a very subtle scent that I didn't really notice when I walked in the room. The dirty diaper smell was gone but I wasn't smelling a strong Fresh Linen scent in its place. When I received the Mango Sorbet I could smell it as soon as I opened the mailbox. Thank goodness no cars were driving by because I think I started drooling immediately. I got inside and shook some in my diaper can and it smelled so yummy! The scent makes me think of fresh fruit and warm summer days. Of course it took care of the dirty diaper smell, but it also replaced it with a very yummy Mango scent. Even my husband (who I refer to as nose deaf) walked in the room and said "Hmmm...that's odd, it smells very fruity in here". I even sprinkled a little in the bottom of the diaper genie and now when you open it the smell is yummy not yucky!

I confess that Shake It Up has made me exhibit some odd behavior. Yesterday I paused next to the diaper pail and took a deep breath and smiled. Yes, I confess, I have started sniffing a dirty diaper pail, but in my defense it just smells so good! Today I even sprinkled a tiny amount under the floor mats in my car because sadly my car doesn't smell so fresh. Between the dirty diapers that fall out of the diaper bag and the fast food wrappers that get left behind for sometimes days before I have an extra hand to pick them all up sometimes my car just gets funky odors in it. I hate using commercial air fresheners because without fail they are always too strong for me. I am happy to say that Shake It Up was just the right amount of yummy smell.
