Part 1: Natural Life Magazine Review & Giveaway {CLOSED}

Congratulations to #13 Rebecca!
Natural Life Magazine is not your typical checkout stand "magazine. There are no glossy advertisements with models selling fancy commercial products. It is not a gossip rag or a fluff magazine. It is a magazine dedicated to providing readers with "straightforward, trustworthy facts, analysis, opinions and how-to information about green family living and progressive education".

I will be the first to admit that some of the topics covered in this magazine shocked me. A couple of shocking examples for me were "I Don't Need to Know" Why and how one woman chose secular humanism over religion and "A Week in the Life" An unschooled teen's community-based education. While I found these articles shocking they were also thought-provoking. They challenged me to think about different views from my own. I really liked that they offered honest insight into non-mainstream choices, especially in education.

I think Natural Life sums up their magazine quite well when they say:

We are sometimes controversial, always honest and forever practical. As one of the original North American sources of information about natural family living and its foremost publisher of books about progressive homeschooling (sometimes known as life learning or unschooling), we work hard to provide a fresh perspective on these important topics. As a result, you'll find us always a bit ahead of the pack.

Natural Life Magazine has e-subscriptions available to save resources. Natural Life Magazine also makes it a priority to use environmentally sound processes and paper, including a mix of paper that is post-consumer recycled, tree-free, non-chlorine bleached and preserving of old-growth forests. Currently, Natural Life magazine is printed on Forest Stewardship Council (FSC)-certified paper by a printer that is also FSC-certified, using soy-based inks. How awesome is that?

This magazine is not for you if you are easily offended or not open to different view points. However, if you share similar viewpoints or enjoy being exposed to different viewpoints I believe you will enjoy this magazine. One more great feature of this magazine is that each article includes an email address for the author if you are inclined to seek more information.

You can find Natural Life Magazine on the web at http://www.naturallifemagazine.com/. You can also find them on facebook and twitter.

To enter to WIN a one year subscription to this magazine all you have to do is sign up to follow my blog via google friend connect (in the right hand column) and leave me a comment letting me know that you follow and why you would like to win a subscription to Natural Life Magazine. Giveaway ends March 16, 2010 at Midnight CST. Contest open to US Residents only. Void where prohibited.

Following you. :)

I'm in Missouri too, btw! :)

Our family is striving to live a life closer to what God designed us for - we breastfeed, birth naturally, co-sleep, cloth diaper, eat Real Food etc. We are also conservative Christians. I am blessed with wonderful friends who think the things we are doing are worth-while even if they don't choose to jump on board. I love the support of like-minded communities, especially when they can recognize and accept each other's differences lovingly. I'm all about reading up on the other point of view so I can understand it. Being a "Crunchy Conservative" usually means I'm out of sync with both sides anyway. :)

Following you. I would love to win this subscription. My extended family has not been supportative of our choices. (breastfeeding, cloth diapering, thinking of homeschool, being ecofriendly) I really need to know I'm not the only one on the planet who has these beliefs!

Hi! I'm "following" you and would LOOOOVE to win the subscription to Natural Life Magazine. I am a new mommy and am doing all I can to educate myself to raise my son safer, healthier, and in a more natural way. We have recently done a complete product purge and are trying to make the safest choices we can. I cloth diaper, breastfeed, purchase organic, recycle all I can, and share all I learn with anyone who will listen to me. (family, friends, facebook, neighbors, people in public, etc.) In fact, I am seriously considering starting my own blog soon. :)

I think I should be awarded the subscription because I will SHARE what I read/learn from the magazine!

Please pick me! :)

I'd like to win this mag because living 'natural' is still new to us and we can use all the help we can get! :) We've tried a few green magazines but nothing that we just love yet.

A friend just passed on a copy of the latest issue of this magazine and I was surprised I hadn't run into it in the past 5 years. I love the honest, well-written, and educated articles this magazine provides. I'd be honored to win a subscription to this magazine. And...I'm signed up in your google friend thingy. Thanks.

I'm following, I'd love to win this, never heard of it before until now, I love what you wrote about their eye opening articles. My family's definitely not where I'd like us to be as far as living all-natural, and maybe I need some coaxing (er education) on some subjects, but my ears are open. Thanks for this opportunity. lilpinksock31(at)gmail(dot)com

I've really wanted to get my hand on this magazine. It was on my Christmas list, but I didn't get it - so maybe this time I will?! =)
